With the popularity of Aromatherapy ever growing, it is inevitable that the use of essential oils in makeup would become a reality.
It is not a new concept, indeed there was a company that bought out “Aromatherapy Makeup” in the mid-1980’s. As a practicing Aromatherapist at the time, I was so excited and couldn’t wait to receive and sell “Aromatherapy makeup” in my salon.
What a disappointment to find that the lipsticks were all scented with fennel essential oil. Now sweet Fennel essential oil is a wonderful essential oil to use in treatments, but in lipsticks?
As a teacher and practitioner of Aromatherapy and Holistic Skin Care since 1982, I have used essential oils in all my treatments and products.
Finally, the cosmetics industry is slowly catching on with the notion that cosmetics don’t just have to “look good” but can “feel good” and also “do good” at the same time.
The Marriage of Mind, Body and Spirit
With this in mind, my concern is that a cosmetic formulator is going to come along, (which indeed has happened!) and decide that they are going to launch an Aromatherapy Makeup Line.
Using essential oils in makeup is a powerful tool and this works well for the growing trend in cosmetics which is to deliver not just a pretty cover up, but to also have a positive effect on the skin and emotions as well.
Imagine a makeup that can cover up a condition whilst healing it at the same time!
