The Palisade arrived on our shores in silence and I was very excited to see it because I feel like we do not get this big SUVs we see in other markets.
It's about time car makers that we deserve them in SA, which reminds me of its cousin Kia Telluride which I ao wish we had in SA, it looks stunning for sure.
This is Hyundai's flagship SUV and I believe they are using it to test the market as they did not really come to SA as a luxury car brand but they are slowly positioning themselves as that.
I mean they also did not position themselves as everyday "sport" brand but their "N" variants are currently the new darlings of the world.
This SUV slots above everything else that Hyundai has ever offered in South Africa. Before this one we only had the Santa Fe as the flagship.
Do I feel like this will slow down the way people see the Santa Fe (Priced from R769 500)? No, it is not intended to.
I was let down by some shortage of tech as compared to other markets despite this being the Elite variant, not premium, not executive, Elite!
I think Hyundai is trying to see if they can tap into the market and they could not risk bringing the latest specced ones and price them higher. This is probably strategically placed so consumers can get used to buying the brand at around R1million before they can go in fully.
Who knows maybe we will start seeing the beautiful looking Genesis brand in SA.
