Wednesday served as a significant day for one Dallas Cowboys defender as Randy Gregory reportedly made his way back to The Star after missing last week’s contest against the Los Angeles Chargers while on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Gregory was actually the second Cowboys starter to miss time this season (keep in mind we are only at Week 3) as a result of being on the list. Zack Martin was out for the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Noah Brown and Brandon Knight ahve also both been on the list this season, and unfortunately it appears that the Cowboys may be missing yet another player for their third game of the season.
As preparations are fully beginning for the Cowboys, who play on Monday Night Football this week, they might have to be made without linebacker Keanu Neal. He is being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list himself.
It should be said that the most important thing here is obviously Keanu Neal’s health. We hope that all is as well as can be for him and his family.
Speaking about the football implications only, it is obviously not ideal for the Cowboys to potentially be down three players in as many weeks due to COVID. Dallas managed to get by last week without Gregory and a number of other starters that were out for different reasons, and while Neal is not a starter, he is a a valuable piece of depth.
As it is only Wednesday there is still a lot of time to go before the next game kicks off. For what it’s worth, the Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a situation in this same realm as tight end Zach Ertz tested positive for COVID-19.
