On 9/1/21 at approximately 11:43 PM, CHP and Heartland Fire responded to a two-vehicle accident. Upon their arrival, they found one of the vehicles on the center divide. According to CHP, the driver of the white sedan rear ended another vehicle and then collided with the center divide. The car ended up leaning on it’s side. Due to the position of the vehicle, the drivers injuries, and the position of the vehicle - the driver was unable to self-extricate. While assisting the driver out of the vehicle, the car slammed back down nearly injuring the driver again. While filming this, there was an extensive smell of alcohol from the vehicle and alcohol cans inside and outside of the vehicle. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The other driver did not sustain any injuries and exchanged insurance information with CHP.
