PBR Bull Rider Amadeu Campos Silva Dies After ‘Severe Accident’ During Bull Ride

Terrible news out of Fresno, California. PBR bull rider, Amadeu Campos Silva has passed after a “terrible wreck” at the Velocity Tour event in Fresno. After being taken to Community Regional Medical Center, he passed away. CEO of PBR, Sean Gleason announced the news on Twitter. “Earlier today, young Brazilian bull rider Amadeu Campos Silva was involved in a terrible wreck at the Velocity Tour event in Fresno,” the post reads. “He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, CA., where he passed away. Our heart breaks for Amadeu’s family and friends.”

In the photo that Gleason shared, the statement from PBR read, “It is with extremely heavy hearts that we report that Amadeu Campos Silva passed away at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California.”

While bull riding is a fun pastime, it is a dangerous sport. There is a reason why riders take all kinds of precautions to keep themselves and others safe. Campos Silva had a great career in Brazil before coming to America. At just 22 years old, he had shown a lot of promise. Back in 2019, he finished runner-up at the Brazilian Finals. After that, he made his U.S. debut on the Velocity Tour.
Amadeu Campos Silva’s Career

Throughout his career, Amadeu Campos Silva had established himself as one of the world’s top riders. In his own country of Brazil, he already finished 2nd in the national finals. In his PBR career, Silva had 26 rides. He also earned $42,000 in his career. During the course of his career, he earned a total of 104.66 points.

Last year, Campos Silva accomplished one of his ultimate goals. He rode in the PBR World Finals in 2020. Already this season he was working his way up the ranks. As such a young rider, it is a tragedy that his full potential will not be realized. After such a promising career at such a young age, Campos Silva passed doing what he loved. PRB gave their condolences to the family.

“The entire PBR and western sports family extend our thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt condolences to Amadue’s family and friends,” the statement read in part. This season, Campos Silva was ranked #88 in the world. He also had 26.50 world points. Today, the Fresno Invitational marked the third event of his season. Last year, he had two second-place finishes.

There is no telling what Campos Silva might have accomplished. However, his memory will live on through his family and friends. In such a short life and career, he established himself as a bright, young star. It is devastating to see that star extinguished so soon. Hopefully, the PBR Velocity Tour is able to move on from the tragedy and have a healthy and clean tour from here on out.
