PART 1: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte meets with several Cabinet members in Malacañan Palace to discuss the recent developments on the government’s response against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and other matters of national concern in his weekly Talk to the People.
The Chief Executive conveys the good news on the total number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in the country that has now reached 55.7 million doses -- 30 million of which are first doses and 25 million are second doses and single dose vaccines. He also shares that the immunization of minors aged 12-17 years old, prioritizing those with comorbidities, has already piloted in the National Capital Region (NCR) and assures the rest of his ‘kababayans’ that the rollout of pediatric vaccination will reach other regions soon, as the government arranges for other logistical requirements such as transport and human resources, among others.
Furthermore, President Duterte reports the recent downward trend of positivity rate recorded and the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases tallied in the country per day. Nonetheless, despite these significant improvements, he called on all local government units (LGUs) to urge their respective constituents who have not yet received the COVID-19 jabs to get inoculated, as the country takes significant steps in achieving its target vaccinated population by the end of the year.
During the meeting, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año and Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana present their respective offices’ recent accomplishments and other updates.
