I was closing my Chrome tabs, Friday night
When a new Slack thread fell into sight;
Our Chief Data Officer had sent a blog;
“In order to fix our long backlog…”

From Zhamak’s keyboard she penned an epic piece,
A tome where many data leaders would soon feast
Our Slack groups and email were soon alight
“Decentralized data just feels right!”

(They did the mash) We planned sprints in a flash

The engineers were having fun (wahoo… told by who)
And governance had just begun (wahoo… told by who)
Somebody cc’d Sales, but no-one knew the reason!
As we built our plan, ‘Data’ was top of mind
Plus tenants of ‘Self-serve Platform Design,’
One pinch ‘Product Thinking’ we added for sure,
With heaps of ‘Domain-driven Architecture!’

And to our inbox, we got a Zoom
Our CEO asking to all meet soon;
She greeted us quickly then asked to the hoard
“But who will I ping about my Tableau Dashboard?”

Now our data’s dispersed, each domain in command
And our Data Mash is the hit of the land
