The Suns seem to be in the middle of it all.
Luka, Zion and the Pelicans, the Lakers.
It almost seems like there was a shift once the Suns made the finals, once they became one of the best teams in the NBA. There was an attitude shift. I mean “winners work”.
This single video has become has become the embodiment of the Suns, received as a corny attempt right after a 4 point win against the Warriors in 2021 without Curry.
Pelicans are up by 9, the Suns clearly have given up, Zion gets on the fastbreak and breaks an unwritten rule. When you’re up and when the team has their hands down, you are supposed to hold the ball, a tradition that has held the test of time. Sometimes you even hold the ball with a shot clock. And when players don’t, usually problems start because it’s taken as a slight.
And Cam Payne said that the Suns do things the right way…ahh never mind.
And this isn’t the first time. Here, Jose Alvarado has a bruised rib, gets by Chris Paul, and so CP reaches around, but closes his fist and hits him right in the rib. Part of his highlight reel.
Everybody acting tough when they up right. The Suns were the favorites coming into the series against the Mavericks and went up 2-0. And after the game when asked about matching up with Luka’s defense.
Booker even takes the ball away from Luka, says some words, and annoys Luka even further.
Of course, the Suns are up 3-2 so they gonna win. The Suns lose Game 6, but heading into Game 7, these two have to carry right…
Yeah, Luka made them his and the Suns fell further into depravity, felt like that one annoying hooper who gets super petty and can’t take what they dish.
No one felt bad for the Suns, the same way no one felt bad for Russ when he was rocking a baby in his own win against the Dame and the Blazers and then got rocked with Dame’s game winner.
You can’t only talk when you’re up.
But the Suns do the right thing, sportsmanship, they would hold the ball here right?

But you know what, fair. The Lakers were also wildin earlier in the series. Drummond, what are you doin bro?
And a few months later, Cam Payne was trash talking LeBron sitting on the bench, LeBron responded hilariously.
Now usually people don’t like certain players like Marcus Smart, his flopping infuriates the best of us. The Lakers are polarizing mainly because of the fan base. The Warriors are the one team that I can confidently say, people were annoyed with. Partly due to their celebrations, partly because of KD, and a lot because the Warriors were winning. When you keep getting destroyed by the same team, there’s a lot of resentment. So many teams have talked about getting back at the Warriors, but at the end of the day, there wasn’t much you could say because they won. Winning shuts everyone up.
All of these Suns actions might have more weight if the Suns had won the title, but they didn’t. They don’t have any champions on their roster. The only champion they’ve had on their roster the past year and a half is Javale McGee. So for them to be doing these antics, continuously kicking teams when they are down just doesn’t make any sense.
