Pak man referred to as ‘Uncle’; Malasiyan WhatsApp number on NIA radar in fresh FICN case

NIA registered a fresh case in February 2023 against an unknown Pakistani man referred to as ‘Uncle’. The accused used WhatsApp number from Malaysia during smuggling of 149 counterfeit Indian Currency Notes of denomination of Rs 2,000. After 14 months, the Central agency took over the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) case. In Nov 21, the Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch unit nabbed Riyaz Abdul Rahiman Shikilkar with FICN of Rs 2.98 lakh face value. During the interrogation, the name of ‘Uncle’ came to light. The case is related to damaging monetary stability of India by way of smuggling, circulation of High-Quality FICN.
